To move forward, you have to give back
At Bay View Printing Co., we are a collection of artists, designers and printers committed to using our time and talents to give back to and uplift our community. Your business and your presence at workshops and events helps us do just that.
We proudly donate 1% of our revenue from all project-based work and every workshop and event to the diverse nonprofits that participate in 1% for the Planet, a network of businesses and individuals committed to environmental justice. Every wedding invitation we design, every branding project, every Drink&Ink workshop is helping restore planet earth.
Meet the Team
Designer, Printer & Boss Lady
Ashley is the heart and soul of the BVPC operation. A self-proclaimed all-in Aries: full of spunk, courage and zero looking back. Known for her curiosity and inability to sit still, she's one to say "yes" now and figure out how to make it happen along the way.
From the beginning, Ashley’s goal was to take this treasure chest of a business and share it with anyone interested in letterpress printmaking. Collaboration, experimentation, education, and accessibility are at the forefront of every BVPC decision. Ashley is committed to ensuring BVPC is a space where people can gather to learn, explore, share and make. She loves collaborating with clients and guests to help them realize their own creative visions. She's also very fond of her husband, two kiddos and doxie Dorothy.
Printer, Typesetter & Poster Boy
Lucas's fascination for typography and old machinery led him to BVPC after he graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. He's been running our presses for 6 years now, and we've yet to find a design challenge he can't solve on press. He's pretty dang busy printing round the clock, but if you're lucky, on occasion he'll host a Drink&Ink workshop and share his knowledge and patience with you.
He’s also into cooking, bicycling, camping, and basically any other outdoor activity.
Daniela Valle Chavelas
Designer, Illustrator & Lover of Cats
Born and raised in Mexico, Daniela moved to Milwaukee when she was 17 years old. Her passion for the arts began in elementary school, after taking drawing and oil painting classes. She joined the BVPC team in 2016 as an intern while attending the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and developed a passion for the beautiful intricacies of designing for letterpress printing.
Daniela’s illustration skills are absolutely unmatched. She’s deeply inspired by her cultural heritage and her travels which is why she works for our team from wherever she happens to be globetrotting at the moment. When she’s not designing, she likes to spend time with her family and 3 sassy cats: Poe, Junji and Winston.
Designer, Writer & Music Enthusiast
A lifelong lover of all things paper, print, and type, Alison joined the team as a designer in September 2021. She loves helping bring wedding dreams to life, as well as developing unique brand identities for BVPC’s diverse clientele.
A Milwaukee native, Alison returned after nearly 15 years away, most recently spending 4 years on the design and marketing team at the Milwaukee Art Museum. She earned a BFA in printmaking from RISD in 2007 and is excited to be around ink and heavy machinery again.
In her spare time, she consumes copious amounts of live music, enjoys baking, antiquing, needlepointing, and British comedy panel shows. She lives in Cudahy with her musician husband and geriatric poodle.
Problem Solver, Big Thinker & Boss Lady's Arm Candy
Scott's love of problem-solving led him to the School of Engineering at Marquette University where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Scott spent 15+ years working for an automotive supplier before officially transitioning to our team. He did, however, endure nearly a decade of Ashley's constant chatter about all things Bay View Printing prior to giving in, so you know his patience is iron-clad.
Scott may sometimes be the shop gopher, but he is also helping us expand our retail and wholesale offerings (when Ashley lets him leave the house). He loves trade shows, his family and reading consumer product reviews.
Printer, Teacher & Animal Lover
Rachel Foster spent most of her 20’s and 30’s working at various presses in Chicago. She’s been accumulating print knowledge for the past 20 years. Her screen printing talents are mind-blowing and her contagious joy even more so.
Teaching others how to work the presses is one of her favorite activities; she is eager to share all she knows at any of the weekly Drink & Ink workshops. When she’s not printing she’s quilting, cooking, or hanging out with animals.
